CAPACITY CLASS / 20 TON
20 Ton Truck Scale for Aggregate Yards and Batching Plants
The 20 ton class is the entry point for sites that weigh short-wheelbase tippers rather than articulated haulers: small aggregate yards, concrete batching plants and local material supply yards.
A 20 ton truck weighing scale is usually the first permanent scale a batching plant buys. Inbound sand, gravel and cement arrive on rigid tippers; outbound ready-mix leaves on the same chassis class. The duty is steady but not extreme, so the standard 3,500 x 1,000 mm U-section deck is normally sufficient and the civil works stay modest.
What matters at this size is repeatability at high cycle counts, not headline capacity. The fully welded closed cavity resists the torsion of a tipper crossing the deck at an angle, and the Sa2.5 blasted, double-layer coating at >= 120 um dry film keeps the steel sound where wash-down water and cement dust sit on the surface. The structure has passed the same 2,000,000-cycle third-party fatigue test as our largest decks.
Operators in this class often start with a single machine, our minimum order is 1 unit, then add a second lane as the yard grows. Because the deck is modular, the second unit can be specified to the same drawing without re-engineering the pit.

FIG. 01 — Plan view, modular deck, not to scale
For a batching plant the useful figure is not the nameplate tonnage but the number of weighings per shift. If the queue is continuous, tell us the cycle count so we can confirm the load cell and indicator configuration rather than simply quoting the smallest deck.
SIBLINGS / HUB-SPOKE
Compare with other capacities
If the fleet later adds larger tippers or a longer wheelbase, the 30 and 50 ton pages show how the deck length and module count change while the construction standard stays identical.
FAQ
20 ton class questions
What is the typical lead time for a truck weighing scale?
Around 60 days from a confirmed drawing and order. The slot covers fabrication, surface treatment, load-cell fitting, factory calibration and packing. We confirm the exact window with the quotation rather than printing a blanket promise.
Can you build a non-standard deck size?
Yes. The published 3,500 x 1,000 mm and 4,200 x 1,000 mm decks are our starting points, and ZDG-type modular platforms let us match unusual axle spacing. Send the vehicle wheelbase and site footprint and we return a dimensioned proposal.
Do you provide installation guidance?
Our own installation and commissioning teams handle turnkey projects, and for distributor-led builds we supply foundation drawings, alignment tolerances, wiring diagrams and remote commissioning guidance.
Should I choose a portable or a fixed weighbridge?
A fixed U-section deck suits permanent high-cycle sites. Portable and axle-load pads suit temporary works, enforcement checks or sites where a civil pit is not viable. We quote both against the same spec sheet.
What should I include in a quote request?
Gross vehicle weight, axle configuration, deck length, pit or pitless preference, static or in-motion weighing, site country, destination port, preferred incoterm and estimated quantity. The more of these we have, the tighter the specification we return.
